Utah Artist Salvador Alvarez stands at his painting teaching an outdoor workshop

As a young artist, I was drawn to Utah’s old barns and wide open spaces.

My subject matter turned from Wasatch landscapes to figurative work when I was selected to attend the Master's Program at the New York Academy of Art. Upon graduating, my heart led me to the North Shore of Oahu, where I studied the colors of the Islands and had the privilege of raising my family in Paradise. Now, I find myself drawn to Utah once again. I am driven to make visible on canvas the history and the heritage of hope of a mighty and industrious people. I can see how each chapter of my life has given me the tools to master the line, color, and form for the "Joy in the Journey" collection.
