About the Artist

Salvador G. Alvarez

As a young artist I was drawn to Utah when it was full of old barns and wide open spaces. My subject matter turned from Wasatch landscapes to figurative work when I was selected to attend the Master's Program at the New York Academy of Art. Upon graduating my heart lead me to the North Shore of Oahu where I studied the colors of the Islands and had the privilege of raising my family in Paradise. Now I find myself drawn to Utah once again. I am driven to make visible on canvas the history and the heritage of hope of a mighty and industrious people and I can see how each chapter of my life has given me the tools I needed to master the line, color and form for the "Joy in the Journey" collection.
